Really handy article about the importance of being present for people in their grief:

  1. What a great article! Thanks for sharing. I love the “Do bring soup.” After Lucy died there was a young couple from our church who brought us brown sugar cookies once. I told her they were my favorite cookies. After that, I would randomly find a container of brown sugar cookies on my doorstep, even months later. It was surprisingly comforting. I also like the part about being a rebuilder, not just a fireman.

    • It seems so important!
I wish it mentioned paper plates. A couple from our church who had lost an infant brought us paper plates. They said it was the handiest thing anyone every gave them when their son died, and they were right. Who wants to wash dishes while they’re crying every day?
