Remembering Doria

One Father's Journey after the Death of his Daughter

Going Zo Fast

About 90 minutes from typing these words, little Zoe will be 2 full months old. It’s really surprising that something we waited for so long could be going so quickly and be this normal now. It’s striking how much she’s grown.

This is Zoe a few minutes after she was born, for her night in the NICU with the second heart monitor that she couldn’t avoid:

That little girl who shot out with (very literally) not a moment to spare was so small and feisty. She had some jaundice, like so many babies do, and she struggled to eat. That was sort of a problem, but she’s taking to it now. In fact, she has those days where she never stops, and Zoe grows like an enormous, sweet, screaming weed. She’ll be over 10 pounds this weekend, almost 4 more than she left the hospital with. This is Zoe tonight:

And with her unknown friend Dori Bear, in our spring dress collection:

You can see, our little girl is really starting to smile. That’s one of the coolest things we’ve seen so far. On the other hand, we had to retire the newborn diapers and some of her first outfits. She’s just too big now. Since she just woke up, Zoe may be trying to eat my arm right now. I hope that doesn’t happen. I need Zoe and the arm to make it.

I’m tired. I’m happy. I’m holding onto a little growth machine, and I think this is a very nice Friday.

  1. She’s adorable, love reading updates on her doing so well!

  2. Yay! I’m glad to hear it can feel normal. I can’t wait for that feeling. It doesn’t seem possible, but I take your word for it and have faith:)
